The Extraordinary Travels of Harry Head.

The Extraordinary Travels of Harry Head.

Seven times around the world in the 1880s.

Harry Head was in turn a gold miner, explorer and mathematician, a pioneer of early f light, a painter, musician and raconteur. He followed his inclinations and disdained the trappings of an encumbered life in the fashion of a prototypical hippy. The Extraordinary Travels of Harry Head is an intriguing account of one man’s exploration of the world in the 1800s, which included early New Zealand. He circumnavigated the globe seven times, all by sailing ship, by horse or train, but mostly on foot. His life spans the Victorian Age, and he bears witness to the momentous changes that took place during that transformational period of history.

What People are Saying:

“I’ve just finished your new book on Harry Head; I can clearly see why you have become engrossed with this educated yet humble character. Your writing is wonderful and the little interjections of looking over the water and hills surrounding your home let us see a snippet more of you, as an author.

Almost one-hundred years after he died, he is being discovered afresh by people living in such differing circumstances, indeed, as you mention, what on earth would he think of our hellish lifestyle? Writing well is such a skill, holding your reader’s attention, encouraging them to turn the page, preventing them from putting it down. My Father said, “To write well, you must read, and read.” Clearly, you have done so. Once more, I am impressed. “
